About this bank

About Mashreq

Mashreq (Mashreqbank PSC) is regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. On the business side, it offers mainstream business accounts (Business First, Business Premium and Business Platinum) and Mashreq NEO BIZ, which it describes as a digital business bank for startups, entrepreneurs, freelancers and SMEs in the UAE. NEO BIZ applications are made online, and a branch visit is normally not needed. Mashreq is usually a strong option for founders and SMEs that want a recognisable UAE bank with practical day to day business banking, digital tools and room to scale into more advanced needs.

How this bank fits a business

Which NEO BIZ plan fits

  • Pro, AED 99 + VAT a month, no minimum balance; international transfers AED 50 each.
  • Pro Plus, AED 199 + VAT a month, no minimum balance; international transfers AED 25, cheque books free, and 3% a year interest on AED and USD balances for the first 90 days of a new account.
  • Lite, AED 200 + VAT a month, no minimum balance; international transfers AED 40.
  • Prime, no monthly fee with an AED 50,000 average balance, AED 200 + VAT a month if it falls below; international transfers AED 25.
  • On every plan local AED transfers and WPS salary transfers are free, inward remittances are free, and one debit card is free for single-signatory accounts. Closing within 6 months costs AED 100, later it is free.

The NEO BIZ account page markets Pro and Pro Plus; Lite and Prime appear on the business accounts page. If NEO BIZ does not fit, the regular Mashreq business accounts ask for an average balance of AED 50,000 (Business First), AED 150,000 (Premium) or AED 350,000 (Platinum), and free zone and offshore companies pay an extra AED 250 a month on them.

Who can open it

The Key Facts Statement of September 2026 sets the rules: the company is registered in the UAE, all owners and signatories are over 18, the business is 100% owned by individuals with no layered structures, at least one partner or power of attorney holder is a UAE resident, and annual turnover is up to AED 100 million. Mashreq does not publish separate rules for free zone, offshore or sole establishment licences.

How opening works and how long it takes

You apply online; Mashreq says the application takes about 10 minutes. After the documents are in, the account number is generated and a representative contacts you if verification needs more. Until 31 December 2026 Mashreq promises to activate a new NEO BIZ Express account within one business day of the application, or credit AED 1,000, when you verify your identity with Emirates ID facial recognition; companies with a corporate owner and cases that need a physical meeting are excluded.

Suitability

Who this bank may suit

A quick read on where this bank is usually a stronger fit - and where another bank may serve you better. This is editorial guidance, not eligibility.

Good fit for

Mashreq is usually a good fit for startups, owner managed small businesses, service companies, trading companies and growing firms that want a practical UAE banking setup with a more visible digital angle. It can also suit businesses that value online banking usability, digital account related workflows and a bank that is comfortable serving both everyday business needs and more structured growth cases.

May not suit

Mashreq may be less suitable for applicants who expect approval with very light preparation, highly unusual business models with weak documentation, or cases where the ownership and transaction story are more complex than they first appear. It may also be less ideal where the company needs a very niche institutional setup from day one rather than a strong mainstream business banking relationship.

  • Applicants should not treat online application paths as automatic approval
  • Weak or inconsistent business narratives can slow the process

Preparation

What to prepare before approaching this bank

A practical checklist. Complete documents do not guarantee approval - the bank makes the decision.

Preparation quality matters

For Mashreq, the company story should stay consistent across the trade licence, website, business model, counterparties and expected flows. If the business intends to use digital onboarding routes, that convenience should be supported by cleaner documents, not weaker preparation.

Applicants should still expect standard UAE compliance screening. If the case involves cross border transfers, layered ownership, regulated sectors or a thin operating story, stronger source of funds and business rationale support may be needed. Digital application convenience should not be confused with light compliance expectations.
Timeline expectations
