How to Check a UAE Labour Contract and Job Offer Online with MOHRE

Three documents decide whether a UAE job is real: the offer letter, the employment contract and the work permit. All three run through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and all three can be checked before you sign anything or board a plane.

What to have ready before you check

• The reference number of the offer, which is the identifier the enquiry service works from.
• The company name in English and in Arabic, because the economic register is searched by name.
• Your passport details as written in the offer, so you can spot a mismatch in spelling or number.
• The job title and salary exactly as promised in writing, to compare against the contract.

What the contract is required to contain anyway

Some checks do not need a portal at all. The UAE Labour Law fixes several terms, so a contract that contradicts them is a warning sign on its own reading:

• the probation period must not exceed six months, and it cannot be extended for a further term;
• if the employer ends the contract during probation, it must give 14 days of written notice;
• an employee moving to another UAE employer during probation gives one month of written notice, and 14 days if leaving the country;
• a non-compete restriction may last at most two years from the expiry of the contract;
• work may be full time, part time, temporary, flexible, remote or job sharing, and the model belongs in the contract.

What a MOHRE record does not prove

This is the section that is missing from almost every article on the subject, and it is the one that saves people money. A record that comes back confirms that a document exists in the ministry system. It does not confirm:

• that the employer will pay the salary written in it;
• that the company is financially sound, or that it pays its existing staff on time;
• that a recruitment agent quoting the offer is authorised by that employer;
• that verbal promises about housing, flights, bonuses or a car exist anywhere in the file;
• that a fee someone asked you to pay is legitimate, since the employer is responsible for recruitment expenses under the UAE Labour Law;
• that an entry permit is valid, which is a separate check with GDRFA or ICP.

An offer that verifies is not the same as an employer that pays. The check protects you from a forged document, not from a bad employer.

If the offer or the contract does not match

• The reference number returns nothing. Go back to the company and ask for the MOHRE issued offer letter, signed by the authorised manager. A company PDF is not that document.
• The company does not appear in the economic register. Search the Arabic name as well, then ask for the trade licence and check it separately.
• Someone asks you to pay a recruitment fee. The employer bears recruitment expenses under the UAE Labour Law. Ask in writing what the fee is for.
• You are told to fly in on a visit visa and start work. A visit or tourist visa gives no right to work, and working on one carries fines and legal liability.
• The signed contract differs from the offer you accepted. This is a dispute, not a checking problem, and it has a route of its own.

Where a dispute is already open, the law gives a timetable: a request goes to the ministry, and if an amicable settlement is not reached within 14 days, the ministry refers the case to the competent court under Article 54 of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021.
