UAE visa overstay is charged at AED 50 per day for each chargeable day after your visa expiry or cancellation date, once any grace period has passed. The rate is flat - it no longer escalates over time, and there is no maximum cap. Multiply your chargeable days by AED 50 for an indicative total, then verify the exact figure through the official ICP or GDRFA channels.

Methodology

How the overstay fine is counted

The calculation follows the standard AED 50 per chargeable day rule. The only variables are your dates and the grace period that applies to your visa type.

    Start from the visa date

    Counting begins at your visa expiry date (tourist or visit visa) or cancellation date (residence visa).

  2. 2

    Apply the grace period

    Any grace period is subtracted first. Grace periods differ by visa category and current rules, so confirm yours officially.

  3. 3

    Charge AED 50 per day

    Each remaining day up to your exit date is a chargeable day at AED 50. Days within the grace period are not charged.

The AED 50 per day rate has been standardised since 14 October 2022. These are the rules the calculator applies.

How much is the UAE overstay fine per day?
The UAE visa overstay fine is a standardised AED 50 per day, applied the same way to tourist, visit and residence visas. There is no maximum cap and it no longer escalates over time.
Is there a grace period before overstay fines start?
Residence visas have a grace period of 30 to 180 days after expiry or cancellation, depending on your category. Tourist and visit visas generally have no grace period, so the fine starts the day after the visa expires.
Is the overstay fine the same for tourist and residence visas?
The daily rate is the same - AED 50 per day for all visa types. The difference is the grace period: residence visas get 30 to 180 days before the fine starts, while tourist and visit visas usually get none.
Does the UAE overstay fine have a maximum limit?
No. The fine accrues at AED 50 per day with no cap until it is settled. The older system that increased the rate over time was abolished.

You can check and pay through official channels only: ICP Smart Services for visas issued outside Dubai, and GDRFA Dubai for Dubai-issued visas. The UAE Pass app can also be used. This calculator is an estimate and does not access your personal records.
